It's time to chart a path to freedom! Our ancestors have been boldly innovating, dreaming, and transforming in the midst of the most oppressive circumstances for centuries. We are a part of this legacy. Join the Underground Railroad, and reconnect with your innate power to embrace art as subversive activism, community as sustainable prosperity, and ritual as collective healing. Co-host of the BGD podcast Spirit Medicine and Founding Artivist Director of the Black Lives Matter artivist platform, #DignityInProcess—ChE is offering a 7-month coaching program to support people-of-color in manifesting our vision for collective liberation! We have everything we need right where we are. We just need to reveal it. In this 7-month coaching cohort you will connect to the creative tools of your ancestors to live a more meaningful life, and bring about social change!
Enrollment for COHORT 2 OPEN NOW through Friday, January 19th, 2018!
Program Calendar: Orientation on December 16th, 2017-Juneteenth Celebration on June 2nd, 2018.
Choose an Underground Railroad pathway, a small group meeting virtually (via Zoom) every other month with the intent of deepening in your area of focus. Receive the support and accountability of working within a small community of fellow Creative Radicals where you'll receive added support, feedback, and liberatory resources. The pathways are Underground Healing, Underground Conductor, and Underground Station. (You can read more about each pathway below.)
Work with a Possibility Partner every month-- an opportunity to work through specific challenges, collaborate, and share your transformative journey alongside a fellow creative radical.
Connect with a community of inspiring change-makers in VIRTUAL live collective coaching sessions (every other month via Zoom) where you'll be guided through ChE’s cultural equity framework, Afro-Indigenous Liberatory Practice, receiving tools in healing justice, multidisciplinary equity organizing, and life visioning. Orientation is on Saturday, Dec. 16th, 2017 from 11am-12:30pm PST | 1-2:30pm CT | 2-3:30pm EST!
Pathway 1: UNDERGROUND HEALING
True freedom begins with the work beneath the surface. The work done in the depth and darkness of earth. This pathway takes us underground where the roots of internal emotional and spiritual power run deep. With ear to ground we listen for ancestral heartbeat to give us a rhythm to walk a freedom path. This takes time. This takes cultivating the patience to listen deeply, to trust ourselves, our origins, our root magik. We embrace the call to slow down, to strengthen foundations of healing through ritual, embodiment, and he(art)fulness—the very means of expanding our capacity to build a more liberated world above ground. This pathway focuses on:
The spiritual, emotional, somatic work beneath the surface
How to connect to a unique Vision for your life that supports our collective Liberation!
How to sustain your freedom work through ancestral healing, ritual, and embodied centering
How to deal with the impacts of trauma and oppression and still live your dreams!
Pathway 2: UNDERGROUND CONDUCTOR
How do you guide your community to freedom? Take the path of the Underground “Conductor” and become a more liberatory facilitator through immersing yourself in Afro-Indigenous Liberatory Practices. This pathway is perfect for educators, coaches, movement leaders, and sculptors of space who seek to shape environments where people get free! Apply techniques that support arts-integrated curriculum design, embodied community building, and interdisciplinary learning. This pathway focuses on:
How to bring the body into your facilitation as you support people waking up to their freedom
How to stay inspired, fail successfully, and prevent burnout
How to utilize storytelling circles to create spaces of non-hierarchical learning
How to practice participatory, community-based leadership rooted in intersectional justice
Pathway 3: UNDERGROUND STATION
“Stations” along the Underground Railroad were code for safehouses offering rest and nourishment under the protection of community. Where do you find your creative home? How do you open it to those seeking freedom? This path is for artists (in any and all mediums) seeking to open the doors of an individual creative practice to one that supports our collective liberation. Explore what it means to practice art from an Afro-Indigenous ancestral frame--merging art with ritual and activism. How do we utilize participatory, community-based strategies within social justice movements? How do we honor the resources, skills, and gifts within our hands to manifest our ancestors wildest dreams? Learn how art can be used to both challenge systems of oppression AND build creative alternatives. This pathway focuses on:
How to embrace art and creative practice for ritually-rooted, social justice organizing
How to move out of isolation and into authentic community
How to utilize our individual & collective resources for building sustainable liberatory alternatives to systems of oppression
How to move past blocks, and transform fear into action
